The Challenge

The City of El Cajon incorporated solar panels mounted on car-ports on the new Public Safety Building and parking garage.  In addition to Prevailing Wage & Certified Payroll, strict OSHA safety requirements, and coordinated work flow with other sub-contractors, we had to develop a design-built proposal to mount the equipment on pre-engineered trellises which had no prior approved plan.

Our Solution

During the early stages of construction on the main building, we developed a design and installation plan in-house for mounting solar arrays on the new car ports which was approved by the architect and City.  Several months prior to our start of work, we set up the required payroll process and purchased materials to pre-assemble off-site.  The pre-assembly of solar arrays off-site improved our pricing competitiveness which benefited the customer.

Client Response

Progressive Power Group’s design and installation of solar panels on our parking garage saves us considerable money each year.  Their total cost to design and install even with Prevailing Wage requirements exceeded our objective in site generation and utility offset.
